Character Interview from Jamie's Gift

Release Day Party!!
Jamie's Gift
Character Interview

Readers, it's release day!!! Please help me celebrate by stopping by the party link below. I'm excited for you to meet Jenna, from the book. She owns a gift shop in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This weekend, her story, Jamie's Gift, is releasing to the public! Second chances at love is a theme in many of my books because I personally know that it does happen. Often, people in this situation assume there is no way that they would ever find someone as good as the person they lost (death, divorce or separation). Their heart is broken and they've lost trust in those around them. I strive to write stories that give people hope, that there are opportunities for love to happen when they aren't looking and least expect it.

Time Travel Romance is Still Huge!

Visit Another Time Period

This is a genre that has always been dear to me because it allows me to visit another time period, yet somehow know it's connected to the present. Don't we all wish time-travel was possible? I still do. Medieval romances set in England, Ireland or Scotland have been on my reading list since I was a teenager.

New Series by Deanna Jewel

'No Turning Back' Series

When I wrote book one, as titled above, I hadn't meant to connect the characters to book two, Whispers at Ghost Point. Once I'd finished Whispers, the characters from No Turning Back had been reincarnated into Whispers, 200 years later. After years of thinking about it, I've decided to rename book one and use that title as the name of the series. The original title of 'No Turning Back' was 'Fire on the Water', and I will use that title for book one and Whispers will be book two. A tentative cover is shown below and ties in the original cover.

Meet Paranormal Author Cindy Tomamichel

Cindy Tomamichel
Historical/Paranormal

Please help me welcome Cindy, who lives in Australia, as she tells us a bit about herself and what she writes. Cindy, thank you for being my guest this week!

Deanna:  For an evening out, would it be dinner or a movie? What would the dinner be? What might the movie be?

Cindy:  I really enjoy the novelty of eating Moroccan food, with the sampling of lots of small portions, and plenty of bread and dips. It is a great way to relax with a small party of friends. I’d love to follow it up with an action movie, but I usually eat too much and get too sleepy!

Deanna:  Do you prefer wine, whiskey, scotch, or ice tea?

Cindy:  Rum, particularly Captain Morgan spiced rum! Reminds me of Johnny Depp, and that’s no bad thing! I tried iced tea when I was in the USA and I really enjoyed it, but it’s not very popular in Australia.

Deanna:  Johnny Depp is one of my favorites, too! What do you do to relax when you aren’t writing?

Cindy:  I like to get out in the garden, and have a passion for propagating new plants from cuttings. The garden I see as a haven for insects and birds, and I try to grow mostly Australian native plants, although I do love fresh herbs for cooking. I also enjoy cooking, with baking being my main interest – all from my collection of old cookbooks.

Deanna:  What one thing would you pass on to new writers?

Cindy:  The main thing is to just write! I think you learn by writing – a lot- and no amount of reading about how others write will help you find your own voice. Then find some local writers groups or on Facebook, and join in. Then start working on things to submit, short stories, poems, flash fiction or novels – there are markets for all of these.

Deanna:  Do your books have a common theme or are they all different?

Cindy:  I write in several different genres, so while the current book is time travel romance, I have others on the hard drive that are science fiction, paranormal fantasy, urban fantasy and sword and sorcery. The common theme to all of them is action and adventure, and a fast pace.

Deanna:  Tell us about your latest book and the type of reader it may appeal to. I love the cover, by the way!

Cindy:  Druid’s Portal takes the reader into the past – some 2,000 years ago to the time of Roman Britain and the area of Hadrian’s Wall. It was a time of war, as two opposing cultures clashed. Into this drops Janet, a modern day archaeologist, and we follow her adventures with Roman soldier Trajan as they face barbaric Celts, ancient goddesses, druids and her violent ex-fiancé who has vowed to destroy the Roman Empire.
It appeals firstly to readers of historical fantasy and time travel books, but due to the fast pace and fantasy elements, many readers that don’t read romances have labeled it a page turner and enjoyed it.

Deanna:  What five fictional characters would you invite to a party?

Cindy:  Let’s see – could be an exciting party. Conan (RE Howard), Nanny Ogg, (Terry Pratchett), Gimli (JRR Tolkien), Hermione Granger (JK Rowling) and Tarzan (ER Burroughs). Perhaps we would have to leave weapons at the door.

Deanna:  What book has had the greatest influence on you?

Cindy:  I read Robert Heinlein’s ‘Have Space Suit, Will Travel’ as a teenager and it stuck with me. The theme of being ready for the unexpected adventure from the knowledge in your head led me to a lot of extra research and study I would never have learned in school.

Deanna:  What are you working on now?

Cindy:  I am researching for the second in the Druid’s Portal series. There has been such an explosion of information and archaeological details available on the internet that I can add in as details to make the reader feel like they are back in the past. I just have to make sure I do some writing rather than getting too fascinated by history.

Deanna:  What’s been the most bizarre thing you have researched?

Cindy:  I found out Romans had a thing for eating snails, they even imported their preferred type to Britain. They often had small snail farms in their back yards, where they would fatten them up for eating, before cooking them in wine, fish sauce, and herbs.
Thank you for having me, Deanna. Readers, I look forward to reading your comments for the contest below, so please join in.

Help Me to Help My Good Friend, Shannon, so we save her kidneys.

Meet My Friend
Shannon

This story of strong-willed conviction and survival is one that will touch so many hearts. Besides being long time friends with this woman, I used to work with her. We've laughed together more than we've cried together. She's be been there to lift my spirits and I try hard to do that for her. Recently we reconnected and I couldn't be happy, but that didn't last very long once she told me that her health was actually her enemy. Most individuals would have given up the fight long ago, but Shannon is not one to throw in the towel if she thinks she can win. More of us need her determination.

Pamper Yourself Once in a While

Pamper Yourself!

I would love to think that each of you has had the opportunity to step into a hot tub and feel the warmth penetrate through your muscles. The heat soothes the tension, makes us mobile when our bodies are stiff from over-work or just age. Personally, I like my hot tub at 102 degrees, but hubby likes it 105. That difference of three degrees when the water is that hot does make a huge difference! I can't relax if the water is so hot, but at 102, oh my goodness! Yes, the warmth is absorbed all the way to my bones. Close your eyes and just imagine you're somewhere warm, relaxing on the beach or better yet, on your way to a soothing, deep-tissue massage.

Are you making ends meet?

Taking a New Road

Sometimes it may feel like you're the only one struggling to make ends meet, even though you're burning the candle at both ends and still have nothing left at the end of the month. No matter your age, we all seem to go down this road at one time or another. Setting up a monthly finance plan might get you turned in the right direction. Have you ever written down how much you spend every day? Between morning coffee and evening beers or wine (or too many restaurant meals), that alone might help you save $100 for the end of the month. Begin by writing down what you spend versus what you take home in your pay check.

Touching Romance Tales by Charmaine Gordon!

 Meet Author Charmaine Gordon!

My friendship with this wonderful, witty woman began a few years ago and she has touched my heart with her personality. Please take a few minutes to read through our post and get to know her. I hope you leave her a comment, she will respond, and don't forget to download your e-copy of her books! Her stories are filled with characters who deal with life issue and resolve their problems that many of us go through daily. Enjoy her! Charmaine, thank you for joining me once again on my blog!
Deanna, I love chatting with you and getting to know your readers. A brief introduction to your audience first so we get acquainted. In my early life, I was the good daughter, the good wife, the good mom of many children as my pilot husband flew for the Strategic Air Command during the Korean Conflict. Eventually, we became civilians and one day when my youngest only daughter turned sixteen, an actress friend suggested I go to New York City and spread my wings as an actor. I had been in many Community theater plays but never entertained a career before. My husband drew a small map on how to get to the city and I went. Soon I became a small fish in the big talented pond. Daytime Drama was my first venue, shows like One Life to Live for thirteen years, All My Children in and out of this one, Another World, two steady years. Things moved fast in the big city. We lived about thirty miles north, no biggie to drive in back then. Soon offers for movies came in and I was in Working Girl sharing a hot dog with Harrison Ford during a break, meeting the charming Anthony, call me Tony, Hopkins, who also treated me to dine with the stars that day-one month on that movie, When Harry met Sally for a week where I met Carrie Fisher and we all sang during a break. Sweet time for me.
Then I was in a play Off-Broadway, my voice felt way off. I went to a specialist. I quote the words of doom. “My dear, you have Spasmodic Dysphonia. I fear you have lost your voice.”
A friend called with the suggestion: “Write a book.” I said, “I don’t know how.” “But you’ve been memorizing scripts for years and you’ve worked with Mike Nichols and Billy Crystal and so didn’t you learn from them?”
So that night I had an idea and wrote and wrote and never stopped until The End. Then I sent out query letters with rejections coming back but actors are accustomed to that. No biggie and then!! Vanilla Heart Publishing called me. Yes, they were interested and they wanted more and soon I had a contract. Me with no voice had a contract for a book. I cried! Oh yes, I cried.
So you see, it can happen to you. Just keep writing, have faith in your work and yourself. And remember what I did. Allow me to introduce The Catch:

Blurb:
The woman in his bed sat up and shoved him hard. “Time’s up, handsome.”
Tom Donnelly rolled over and blinked awake.
“My name’s Vicki in case you’ve forgotten.”
He attempted his winning grin; it didn’t work, Vicki.  No Vicki came to his muddled mind.  The fog lifted to recall speaking to an escort service for a date.
Naked, Vicki stalked to the bathroom with an armload of clothes picked up on the way. Five minutes later, money in her tight fist, Vicki came running out the bathroom to scream in his face. “The deal was a thousand dollars. I count five hundred. Where’s the rest?” Hands on voluptuous hips, she glared at him.
Head pounding from the world’s worst handover, Tom staggered out of bed and lurched to his dresser. Money hidden somewhere under. . .Clothes flew as he searched and came up with a roll of cash. Face flushed, he handed her four hundred fifty dollars. “Sorry. I’ll make it up next time.”
“Loser. Word gets around, no one’s gonna go with you. Not from the best service in town.” Vicki slammed the front door.
Tom shook his head. Happy New Year to me. Sunk so low I had to hire a date for the big party. Me, the catch, every girl’s hope reduced to this.

Book 3

Tom Donnelly, once known as The Catch – every woman’s dream guy, has fallen down every rung of the ladder he once worked so hard to climb. On New Year’s Day, he realizes just how far he’s fallen, and makes a list of resolutions to change his life. He vows to regain the trust lost from his family, his law firm, and his friends – and maybe even find the right woman this time.

Valentine's Day Contest - Chance to Win a Nook e-Reader!

Love Reincarnation of Soul Mates?

That's what this story is all about and it happens all around us every day! Soul mates are meant for each and every one of us and they're out there just waiting for fate to illuminate that spark of electricity that will connect two people who belong together forever. Then again, I'm a romantic and believe in happy endings, cupid and his arrows.

Monday, January 9, 2017

Do Souls Reconnect From Past Lives?

Do Souls Reconnect?

I'm a firm believer in this aspect when others might not believe this. Do you ever have DeJaVu that makes you stop and think...'I've done this or been here before, but when?' I get that, too. The people in our lives have also been around us in our past lives. Consider how close you and your best friend are. The possibility that you've been best friends or even lovers in a past life is not so far fetched as one might think. Our universe is an amazing place and who's to say this is not a possibility?

If you've read any of my books, you'll know that soul mates and reincarnation are a part of each story that I write. I didn't plan this as I wrote, but the thread is there within my characters and story lines. My first novel, No Turning Back and second novel, Whispers at Ghost Point, are about the same characters, separated by 200 years. Dana and Mitch, in Whispers, have a sense of reincarnation, but don't realize it until their psychic friend relays this information to them when ghosts torment them in the lighthouse. You can read more about this at my website for Whispers. I also have both books in print on sale for $20 for both books, a $35 value. You can purchase them from my website at the above link.
My novel, Never Surrender, is another book that also includes reincarnation and soul reconnection, though the characters don't realize it until the end of the story.  Taima and Kate connect amid turmoil that happens between them, when neither wants to befriend the other. Fate has different plans for them and they're constantly pulled back together in order for them to realize they belong with each other. Getting a second time at love is another aspect of my stories and something I also believe in. If you've lost a lover in death or divorce or an argument, sometimes we think that there is no one out there for us. This is so not true. Fate will bring you together with your soul mate when you least expect it. It may be your second soul mate in some cases, because we have more than one. Keep an open heart and know in your mind that it can happen. First, before you can love someone else, you must learn to love yourself and be comfortable that none of us are perfect. Once you love you for who you are, that opens the door for fate to know you're ready for the next step.
In the upcoming sequel to Never Surrender, my characters must dig deep inside themselves to learn how to love themselves and that they aren't perfect. They also realize that their souls have reconnected from a past live and their future is tied together in more ways than they could ever imagine. I hope you grab your copy of Never Surrender so you'll be ready for book two, Final Surrender, and follow Kate and Brandon into a future filled with happiness and less heartache.
